Advanced Boat Handling
Due to increased demand Fremantle Sea Rescue now offers advanced boat handling tuition (minimum 2 people to be booked on the course for it to run).
Who is this training suitable for?
Maybe you have bought a new boat and would like some pointers on putting her in a pen or pulling up to a fuel jetty; maybe you wish to take your boat handling skills to the next stage.
Our experienced sea rescue skippers are experts at maneouvering vessels in confined spaces and coming alongside in any type of sea or wind condition. While most people tend to avoid boating in these situations, sometimes it is unavoidable and it is therefore important to make sure you are well prepared and practised. In most cases it is possible to bring a vessel alongside single-handed: we will show you how.
What will I learn?
This practical course is designed to further advance boat handling skills beyond that covered in the RST:
- manouvering in confined areas
- advanced berthing
- trimming vessel at sea
- picking up a mooring
How long does it take?
Courses are 2 hours (minimum) but you are welcome to book for longer.
How much does it cost?
Non member $150 Members $130 (additional hours @ $75)
Where is the course held?
Fremantle's Fishing Boat Harbour
